Key Raid Battle Takeaways
• Non-ticket holders can still participate in Raids and hunt for Shiny Pokémon — but they cannot obtain Exclusive Moves or the special city-commemorative background.
• Ticket holders, whether attending in person in Tokyo or using Remote Raid Passes (first 10 Raids), will receive Exclusive Moves.
• Special Background (Location Card): ONLY obtainable by using an in-person Raid Pass (green pass) at the physical venue. Remote or non-ticket players cannot obtain the Tokyo exclusive background.
• Mega Mewtwo Shield Mechanic: When the Mega Mewtwo X/Y boss activates its shield, the game will automatically deploy your team's Mega-Evolved Pokémon. ALWAYS Mega Evolve a Pokémon on your team before the battle, and tap quickly to break the shield.
On-Site & City Exploration Tips
• Park Venue Notes: Odaiba Seaside Park is divided into four themed zones for the first time (Team Challenge, Surprise, Discovery, and Team GO Rocket Hideout). Confirm whether your ticket is for the Morning (10:00–14:00) or Afternoon (16:00–20:00) session.
• Recommended City Exploration: During off-park hours, the area around Ikebukuro Station East Exit to Minami-Ikebukuro Park, or Ikebukuro Sunshine City, offers extremely high Gym density and convenient food access. Players who want shade can stay indoors at Sunshine City; those who want more Gyms can explore outside (bring sunscreen and mind your battery).
• Unown Catching Tip: This is the first time all Unown forms appear at a physical event! Based on past event patterns, Pokémon on the map tend to swap heavily to Unown during the last 2 minutes of each hour. Rest in the final 5 minutes before the hour, then go all-out in the last 2 minutes.
• Region-Exclusive Pokémon: Paldean Tauros (Aqua Breed), native to the Western Hemisphere, will appear as a 3-Star Raid Boss. Hawaii-exclusive Comfey will appear in the wild — catch plenty!
Pre-Departure "Crash Prevention" Checklist
• Expand your storage in advance: Niantic has raised the Pokémon Box limit to 12,500 and Item Bag to 12,250. Before departure, clear at least 300 slots and prepare 200+ Ultra Balls to avoid running out mid-event.
• Network roaming & backup login: Confirm your carrier has international roaming enabled for Japan with sufficient data (local SIM cards from Softbank/KDDI/Docomo recommended). Also bind a second login method to your game account (e.g., both Google and Apple/Facebook) to prevent lockout if connection drops.
• Power & hardware: Catching and Raiding drain batteries fast — bring a high-capacity power bank. A Pokémon GO Plus+ controller is recommended for automatic item-spinning while you manually catch.
• Weather & sun protection: Tokyo daytime highs can reach 27–31°C with intense UV. Apply sunscreen, stay hydrated, and pack a compact umbrella for sudden rain.
